An iLovePDF alternative
If you came here looking for another way to handle PDFs online, here is what Shrinkzy does differently, and what it does not do yet.
- No uploadFiles are processed on your device
- No accountNothing to sign up for
- Originals untouchedYou get a new, lighter copy
The difference that matters: where your file is processed
Most online PDF services work the same way: you upload your document to a server, the server does the work, and you download the result. It is a perfectly normal model, and it is why those tools can offer very heavy features.
Shrinkzy takes the other route. Your file is opened by your own browser and never leaves your device. There is no upload step, so there is no copy of your document sitting on someone else's machine, and no retention policy to read.
You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and drop a file. You will see no request carrying your document.
What you get without an account
Merge, split, rotate, remove pages, extract pages, compress, shrink to an exact size, sign, add page numbers, add a watermark, convert PDF to JPG and JPG to PDF. No sign-up, no email, no watermark on the result.
Because the work happens on your device, there is no queue and no per-file limit imposed by a server. The practical limit is your own device's memory.
Where Shrinkzy is honestly weaker
Shrinkzy is young and run by one person. It does not do OCR, it does not edit text inside a PDF, it has no desktop app and no team features.
It also depends on your browser. Video and audio work needs a recent Chrome, Edge or Safari. If you need features Shrinkzy does not have, a server-based suite is the right tool, and that is fine.
Who should pick which
Pick Shrinkzy when the document is sensitive, when you dislike uploading, or when you just want a fast tool with no sign-up: payslips, ID scans, contracts, medical documents, administrative forms.
Pick a full server suite when you need OCR, deep text editing, or a shared team workspace.
